The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong track record in system maintenance, problem-solving, and team leadership to support the engineering and operations of our content center. We are enthusiastic about the potential of cloud-first strategies and artificial intelligence in media systems, and we believe that adaptability and agility are key to navigating the rapidly evolving media landscape. You will dedicate a portion of your time to collaborating with diverse internal and external teams to develop and support cloud-native workflows that enhance our content centers through innovative editing, live production, and field gathering processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement, install, and maintain engineering systems while providing comprehensive end-user support across all departments.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of broadcast equipment, including cameras, audio and video gear, graphics systems, encoders/decoders, and computing devices.
  • Contribute to assessing business requirements, evaluating vendors, and collaborating with Corporate IT, Technology, Digital, and Security teams to define a state-of-the-art, adaptable, data-driven, and scalable content center ecosystem.
  • Assist in organizing and communicating high-level architecture, infrastructure, and workflow concepts, transforming them into functional systems.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and primary contact for all equipment and technology-related inquiries, while staying informed about the latest industry standards.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot issues during crisis situations, including executing disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintain and utilize appropriate data collection and monitoring systems to ensure visibility and communication regarding the status of media operations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and understand signal flow documents, as well as perform systems-level troubleshooting.
  • Oversee the planning of future equipment installations, requirements, and budget recommendations.
  • Clearly articulate technology requirements in both written and verbal formats.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in News Engineering workflows or equivalent technical expertise.
  • Hands-on engineering experience with cameras, editing systems, production switchers, and control room automation.
  • Associate's degree or higher in IT, electronics, or a computer-related field.
  • A collaborative team-oriented attitude and a commitment to quality.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and LAN/WAN networking.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing complex operational challenges and delivering effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting issues and responding promptly under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of video streaming protocols and SCTE signaling.
  • Familiarity with FCC regulations.
  • Avid ACSR certification is a strong advantage.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift equipment generally weighing less than 50 pounds.
