Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Chemical Engineer to join our Carbon Capture Development team at Sargent & Lundy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for evaluating and reviewing the design of carbon capture projects for the energy and industrial markets, with a focus on process design and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and review the design of carbon capture projects for the energy and industrial markets, with a focus on process design and performance.
  • Analyze technical issues and oversee the preparation of system specification data, mass and heat balances, and presentations of findings to clients and peers.
  • Independently verify the design of vendor-supplied equipment.
  • Review and contribute to complex technical reports and presentations of findings to clients and peers.
  • Support the Carbon Capture Development team in providing consistency and oversight across S&L's carbon capture projects.
  • Engage in project development activities for privately and publicly funded carbon capture projects, including consulting on strategy both internally and externally, developing proposals, and coordinating with other project participants.
Requirements
  • BS Chemical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background.
  • Ten or more years of experience in carbon capture or a related field of power or industrial sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and multitask with project team members and clients.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and coordinate various inputs between the internal engineering team and clients.
  • Ability to provide guidance to younger staff members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer-in-Training.
  • Familiarity with major federal environmental regulatory programs such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
