Diagnostic Echocardiography Specialist

This role involves performing diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound exams to help identify abnormalities in patients. The Diagnostic Echocardiography Specialist is responsible for producing high-quality images, documenting patient data, and maintaining ultrasound equipment while ensuring patient comfort during procedures.

The Diagnostic Echocardiography Specialist position performs a variety of diagnostic cardiac/vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

  • Produces high quality ultrasound images and obtains appropriate measurements for each exam.
  • Recognizes the sonographic appearance of normal and abnormal tissue structures and provides the best image quality for documentation.
  • Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly.
  • Obtains and evaluates pertinent patient history and physical findings that may affect the sonographic examination.
  • Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Monitors during all phases of procedure with special care taken to insure patient emotional and physical well-being.
  • Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physician offices as required.
  • Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensures proper equipment maintenance and equipment safety.
  • Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
  • Schedules and coordinates tests.
  • Prepares and maintains operational logs.
  • Assists with Quality Assurance/Improvements audits and activities as required.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography program, required.
  • One (1) current/valid certifications from the following list required: 1 Registry Eligible; 2 American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification with Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS); 3 Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT); 4 Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential, required.
  • Two (2) years related sonography experience, required.

Estimated annual salary for this position is $70,120-$114,576, depending on experience.
