Position Summary
Job responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Animal restraint and triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of laboratory samples

  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management

Candidates must be able to endure unpleasant odors and sounds, and may encounter bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
We are seeking individuals who possess:
  • A strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Punctuality and readiness to work
  • A minimum of 1-year experience preferred; CVT/RVT/LVT certification required
  • Weekend availability
  • Exceptional customer service skills and precise communication abilities
  • Capability to interpret medical records and accurately document client history
  • Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital operations
  • Ability to restrain animals in a low-stress and safe manner
  • Proficiency in sample collection, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin samples
  • Skill in setting up and processing laboratory samples and tests
  • Expertise in positioning and capturing radiographs, with dental radiograph positioning as a plus
  • Proficiency in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-motivated attitude with a desire to enhance knowledge and skills
  • The ability to receive constructive feedback professionally to maintain hospital efficiency

Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Confidence around various animals (e.g., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.)
  • Client needs and work volume may occasionally necessitate more than 40 hours per week
  • Potential for special working hours, including weekends, evenings, and/or holidays
  • Required mental capacity for reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language proficiency
  • Moderately high noise levels in the work environment
  • Job requires sufficient mobility to perform necessary duties
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity required
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception
  • Exposure to a variety of animals that may pose risks of bites, kicks, or scratches
