Job Summary

LabCorp is seeking a skilled Senior Lab Assistant to work in a high-volume, production-based environment in Raritan, NJ. This role is responsible for performing a vital component of clinical lab science, requiring attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens, ensuring accurate identification and processing.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information, maintaining accurate records and meeting turnaround time requirements.
  • Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues, resolving problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintain TAT requirements set forth by leadership, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Follow through on problem resolution of sample to completion, ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards, adhering to regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Previous medical/lab or production experience is highly valued, with prior knowledge of specimen acceptability a plus.
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens and ability to accurately identify specimens are essential.
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills are required, with a high level of attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, meeting established turn-around times and maintaining a high level of productivity.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for effective collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test, ensuring visual acuity and attention to detail.
