Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center's Infusion Oncology Clinic. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assessing patient condition, administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and non-oncology infusions, and communicating with our team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment to meet patient needs, ensuring adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Facilitate patient scheduling for all tests and visits, complete billing for nursing procedures, and prepare equipment for physical exams and medical procedures.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, take and record patient vital signs, and inspect equipment and facilities to ensure patient safety.
  • Obtain medical history from patients, document nursing assessment, and deliver nursing interventions consistent with the stated medical plan of care.
  • Triage patient phone inquiries according to physician and departmental protocols, and document inquiries and results in patients' medical records.
  • Participate in evaluating nursing needs of patients, assess problems affecting patients, and recommend policy and procedural changes.
  • Provide patient education, procedural instructions, and general health information, and reinforce physician instructions in person and through telephone contact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
  • BSN preferred.
  • One (1) year RN experience required.
  • Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) nursing license.
  • A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) are required.
