Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and nurses with patient care and exams, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow.
  • Record and maintain accurate patient data, including vital signs, allergies, and medication lists.
  • Obtain necessary patient records and ensure consent is obtained prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Conduct patient assessments and obtain pertinent medical information for referral to the physician and/or nurse.
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms, maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Assist with lab procedures, processing lab specimens, and filing reports accurately.
  • Perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture and capillary puncture, while adhering to OSHA and universal precautions.
  • Triage incoming patient calls, referring to nurses or physicians as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Practice Standard Precautions, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for medical assistants or LVN equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant or LVN in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
