We are seeking a skilled Certified Medication Aide to join our team at Forum Parkway Health and Rehab. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality care for our residents.

**Job Summary:**
The Certified Medication Aide is responsible for preparing, administering, and documenting medications given to facility residents under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) within regulatory time frames. This includes monitoring residents' vital signs, observing residents for expected actions, and reporting any adverse reactions to medications administered.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Prepare and administer oral, topical, and suppository medications to residents as prescribed by the physician.
  • Count and calculate dosages on a daily basis and document the number of scheduled drugs at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Report any observations concerning resident/patient condition, emergency situations, or difficulties with medications to the supervising nurse throughout the shift.
  • Document vital signs, medication administration, resident behaviors associated with medication administration, and facility incident and accident reports.
  • Meet with supervisory staff to report, review, and discuss medication administration process and participate in review response.
  • Participate in designing and implementing resident care plans in relation to medication administration.
  • Record and replace medications and medication administration supplies; maintain and clean medication cart to remain compliant with facility policies and procedures.
  • Provide direct resident care within the scope of the CMA role and continue direct care activities and other relevant nursing assistant duties as assigned.

**Requirements:**

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in good standing.
  • Six months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and transfer residents (up to 100 pounds unassisted), bend, twist, push, and pull.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, skill in administering nursing techniques including taking vital signs, medication administration, and knowledge of possible side effects.
  • Exceptional organization skills, ability to prepare and maintain accurate resident charts, reports, and observations.
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Good problem-solving and independent thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Professional conduct and ethics.
