Description

The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) plays a crucial role in serving the state's vast population, ensuring access to essential health services. DCH is responsible for managing Medicaid, overseeing the State Health Benefit Plan, and regulating healthcare facilities, thereby impacting a significant portion of the state's residents.

Through strategic planning and oversight, DCH aims to provide affordable and quality healthcare to millions, including vulnerable populations. The agency comprises various offices that support its program divisions, with employees stationed in multiple locations across the state.

DCH is dedicated to excellence in Customer Service and Communication, fostering Teamwork and Accountability to ensure that all stakeholders feel valued and secure.

In this role, the Senior Financial Analyst will operate with minimal supervision, executing advanced finance and accounting functions. Within the Benefits Recovery Section, the analyst will oversee documentation and analysis, preparing Accounting Transaction Receivables based on audit findings. Collaboration with various departments is essential, as the analyst will work closely with colleagues on cases and ensure all documentation is accurately logged and tracked.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute job duties with minimal oversight.
  • Thoroughly review documentation and reports for precision and completeness.
  • Analyze requests prior to processing to identify potential errors.
  • Promptly identify and rectify processing errors.
  • Provide clear explanations of accounting systems and procedures.
  • Engage with providers to discuss audit balances through correspondence.
  • Coordinate accounts receivable bookings across departments.
  • Request necessary documentation for funds owed due to audits.
  • Reconcile monthly with various departments regarding received funds.
  • Submit spreadsheets for payment transfers.
  • Review reports for monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
  • Upload reports for financial processing.
  • Plan and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Identify issues and develop solutions.
  • Maintain a high-quality, customer-focused approach in all interactions.
  • Update tracking spreadsheets for accounts receivable bookings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Ability to review and interpret financial reports.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to support and respond to management and team inquiries.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including data manipulation and analysis.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution and one year of relevant professional experience; or one year of experience in a lower-level accounting position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, along with two years of experience in accounting functions, or four years of relevant experience. Familiarity with the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and Medicaid policies is advantageous.
