Baker Assistant

Job Summary

The Baker Assistant is a key member of our team, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and supporting our bakers in maintaining the highest standards of quality and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform front-of-house and back-of-house duties as directed by the Person in Charge
• Ensure the store is clean and well-maintained, adhering to health and safety standards
• Greet and serve customers with a smile, handling payments and preparing drinks at the Tea Bar
• Prepare ingredients for baking, including portioning, weighing, and storing
• Packaging cakes into boxes

Requirements:

• Some high school education
• Prefer some operations experience
• Local/municipal requirements, such as Food Handler certification, acquired at applicant's own expense

Work Environment:

Counter areas are often hot with steam from the oven and food vapors. Work space is restricted, and employees are expected to remain standing for long periods of time. Employees must prepare hot and cold foods, use the oven and other kitchen equipment, and work quickly without losing accuracy. Employees may be required to lift up to 50 lbs., stand up to four hours, and reach across counter tops measured at 36 inches to serve customers. Kitchens are hot, and noise levels are usually high; storage space is limited, and shelving is high.
