Position Overview:
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse is seeking dedicated professionals in the field of recreational therapy. The role involves the development, implementation, and oversight of therapeutic programs aimed at enhancing the well-being of clients in a secure inpatient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and facilitate engaging recreational activities tailored to the needs of clients.
- Supervise and instruct clients during therapy sessions to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create comprehensive treatment plans.
Employment Type and Compensation:
- Full-time position with multiple vacancies available.
- Compensation for Level II is $19.47 per hour, while Level I is $18.26 per hour.
- Standard working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Non-exempt status under FLSA guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Level II: Requires a Master’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation, or physical education; or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with one year of relevant experience.
- Level I: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation, physical education, or a closely related discipline.
Additional Requirements:
- Availability to work occasional weekends as needed.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for job-related travel.
- Successful completion of an OSBI background check is mandatory.
