SUMMARY
Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our dedicated team in the Interventional Radiology department. This full-time role involves weekday shifts and on-call responsibilities.

Under the guidance of the department supervisor, you will provide patient care and perform technical functions to ensure accurate radiologic diagnosis and treatment.


A sign-on bonus may be available for qualified external candidates.


RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct diagnostic radiographic and angiographic imaging, assisting with interventional procedures under the supervision of an interventional practitioner.
- Adhere to the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle, adjusting radiation doses according to established protocols for patients of varying ages and weights, including pediatric considerations.
- Verify IR exam orders and patient identification in line with hospital policies to ensure correct procedures are performed.
- Evaluate patient risk through interviews and chart reviews, notifying nursing staff or physicians of any potential contraindications.
- Ensure patient readiness and completion of pre-medication protocols as necessary.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of procurement, storage, utilization, documentation, and billing for supplies and equipment used in Interventional Radiology.
- Coordinate post-procedure care for patients as instructed by the interventional provider.
- Educate patients and their families, assessing their understanding of the procedures.
- Attend to the physical and psychological needs of patients during IR exams, including monitoring oxygen saturation levels as required.
- Perform venipuncture for contrast administration and evaluate IV access patency.
- Conduct Point-of-Care lab tests as needed.
- Prepare and administer oral and/or IV contrast according to departmental protocols.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures by all personnel involved in patient care.
- Document clinical and regulatory information in the patient's electronic health record, including IV documentation and contrast administration.
- Respond to complications and emergencies during exams, seeking assistance as necessary.
- Exhibit extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes, evaluating images and recognizing normal versus abnormal findings.
- Manage medications and equipment according to hospital policies.
- Utilize the image management system to acquire, format, manipulate, and archive images.
- Assist patients in completing informed consent forms after discussions with the provider.
- Implement manual operations during system downtimes.
- Train new staff and students in IR procedures and techniques.
- Conduct competency evaluations for new personnel.
- Participate in the education and training of medical staff, including Radiology Residents and Fellows.

Maintain equipment and workspaces in optimal condition, troubleshooting any issues that arise. Perform quality control procedures to ensure high standards.

Promote a healthy work environment and effective teamwork, contributing ideas for improvement and demonstrating patient-centered care behaviors.
- Assist in organizing workflow by utilizing available staff and resources.
- Participate in approved IRB research exams and departmental continuing education initiatives.
- Provide feedback for staff performance evaluations and complete various clerical duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS - IR TECHNOLOGIST I

Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Maintain required CEU credits as mandated by the ARRT.
- Possess CV or VI certification (ARRT).
- Hold current CPR certification or obtain within six months of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS - IR TECHNOLOGIST II

Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Maintain required CEU credits as mandated by the ARRT.
- Obtain CV or VI certification (ARRT) within 36 months of employment.
- Hold current CPR certification or obtain within six months of employment.
