Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Henry Ford Health System. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacists in the distribution and processing of prescriptions, as well as the sale of over-the-counter medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and prepackaging of medication for patients.
  • Enter prescription information and process prescriptions in the computer system.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Obtain personal and insurance information from new customers and enter it into the computer system.
  • Take prescription refill orders over the phone from customers.
  • Collect monies owed for prescription retail sales or OTC sales.
  • Organize and maintain the filing of prescriptions.
  • Straighten and inventory over-the-counter medications and sundry items.
  • Promote a professional and friendly atmosphere to all pharmacy customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication dispensed.
  • Assist customers with problem areas that may arise.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Typing skills of 25 wpm required.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, calculator, and computer.
  • Ability to maintain (lift, carry, stack) up to 40 lbs. of pharmacy inventory.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Valid State of MI pharmacy technician licensure required.
