Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies and Procedures

Develop, implement, and enforce governing safety and health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate regulations.

Conduct Incident Investigations

Conduct thorough incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.

Provide Safety Leadership and Guidance

Provide strategic guidance and coaching to complex-level safety supervisors and mentor safety and complex supervisors, team members, and management to develop a positive safety culture throughout the complex.

Maintain and Analyze Safety Data

Maintain and analyze safety-related data to develop trends and action plans, and prepare and deliver reports for management and guide safety committees.

Perform Safety Audits and Inspections

Perform safety audits and inspections of complex operations, track findings, and assign corrective actions to ensure closure.

Develop and Deliver Safety Training

Develop and deliver selected health and safety trainings and programs to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.

Assist with Environmental Programs

Assist the Environmental Department with enforcing and monitoring compliance with environmental programs for the facility, including air quality, pesticide, hazardous material, hazardous waste, industrial wastewater, and drinking water and storm water programs.

Inspect Equipment and Working Conditions

Inspect equipment, working conditions, and maintain OSHA files and supporting documents required by municipal, state, and federal regulations.

Communicate Safety Procedure Changes

Communicate safety procedure changes to business partners through various channels, including staff meetings, safety huddles, postings, and interpersonal communication.

Review and Update Safety Documents

Ensure all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices are reviewed on an annual basis or as changes and updates are required by practices or regulation and are rolled out in a timely manner.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field (ASP or CSP preferred) and a minimum of five years of professional experience in planning, developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with health and safety system programs and environmental programs.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of Cal/OSHA, Fed/OSHA, and UFC rules and standards, as well as good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to read, write, and understand English; bilingual English/Spanish or English/Punjabi preferred.

Specialized Knowledge

Specialized knowledge in critical health and safety programs and functions, including medical management, behavioral safety process, facility auditing, incident investigation, and employee safety committees.

Technical Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and health and safety network information systems.
