Finance - Senior Financial Accountant

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to take on a leadership role within our Corporate Accounting division. This individual will oversee comprehensive accounting functions related to substantial wage and benefits programs, with a primary focus on payroll, benefit plans, 401(k), and pension schemes. Collaboration with various business units will be essential to enhance process efficiency and ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

You will establish robust partnerships with Human Resources to advocate for accounting and internal control interests. Additionally, you will fulfill SOX key controls and financial reporting obligations associated with benefits and equity.

This role is a 5-month Hybrid contract position with competitive compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting and reporting for extensive wage, incentive, and benefit-related expenditures.
  • Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations through the development and implementation of policies, standard operating procedures, and internal control documentation.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of payroll, benefits, and compensation-related areas.
  • Manage daily accounting operations while providing technical and operational expertise.
  • Foster positive relationships with HR to align on strategic priorities and their implications for transactions.
  • Contribute to the preparation of external financial reports and disclosures, including benefit plans footnote disclosures.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teamwork to drive pivotal initiatives.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to assess new benefit model proposals and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support strategic planning, forecasting, auditing, analysis, budgeting, and research initiatives.

Collaboration:

You will work closely with the Controlling organization, reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting. This role involves collaboration with teams from Controlling, Global Finance, Payroll Operations, Benefits, and regional partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with a Big 4 Public Accounting firm or a large regional firm is preferred.
  • Experience in a Fortune 500 or multinational Consumer Products company is advantageous.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and US GAAP, particularly in employee compensation and benefits accounting.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Workday is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on process improvement and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to cultivate strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Demonstrated integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
