The Children's Learning Center operates as a licensed daycare facility in Wisconsin, catering to children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age, and remains open throughout the year. We welcome all children, irrespective of gender, race, religion, or national origin. Our environment is equipped with age-appropriate furniture, tools, and toys that facilitate diverse activities, including group, small group, and individual engagements. Daily routines encompass Spiritual Time, Circle Time, Discovery, Play Time, Story Time, Art, Music, and rest periods. Our programming prioritizes spiritual development as a crucial aspect of a child's growth, instilling values and blessings into their everyday experiences.

Objective: To create a nurturing atmosphere that promotes the holistic development of each child while accommodating the needs of working and student parents.

Responsibilities: The Educator will collaborate with the Directors and Staff to advance the overarching mission, philosophy, and objectives of The Salvation Army.

  • Assist the Director in strategic planning concerning curriculum, philosophy, and goals.
  • Prepare monthly, weekly, and daily curriculum outlines in a timely manner and communicate these plans to assistant educators and aides.
  • Execute the curriculum that addresses the emotional, physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of the children, aligning with the philosophy and mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Foster an environment that ensures each child has a positive experience throughout their day.
  • Respect and honor each child’s individuality, providing an atmosphere of acceptance and care, while offering as much personal attention as possible. Address distress promptly and provide a curriculum that supports comprehensive development.
  • Be knowledgeable about and adhere to the program's policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency protocols, ready to implement them when necessary.
  • Guide volunteers in maintaining a professional demeanor towards the program, children, and staff, assisting with effective communication as needed. Exemplify professional behavior and appropriate communication at all times.
  • Plan, prepare, and maintain the learning environment.
  • Create and uphold Portfolios in accordance with Young Star standards.

Staff Development:

  • Engage in continuous staff training through in-service programs, meetings, orientations, and other designated initiatives.
  • Participate in curriculum assessment and updates, ensuring alignment with our educational philosophy.

Family Engagement:

  • Maintain regular communication with families, children, and staff both verbally and in writing. Collaborate with the Director and Assistant to fulfill the philosophy and goals of the center.
  • Stay connected with the community and parents to enhance understanding of the daycare program and its needs.

Supervision:

  • Receive regular guidance through Staff Meetings and direction from the Center Director and Assistant Director.

Oversight of Others:

  • Provide mentorship to volunteers within the classroom setting.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Education: Must meet the requirements established by licensing regulations and accreditation standards.

  • Experience in teaching within a childcare center or nursery school.
  • Experience supervising others, preferably in a daycare environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.

Work Environment:

Engagement with children at their level is essential, including lifting children and play equipment (up to 40 lbs. with or without accommodation), sitting on the floor with children, taking them outdoors for play and walks, participating in occasional field trips, and conducting evacuation drills.

  • Possess a working knowledge of and ability to collaborate closely with various service agencies.
  • Act consistently in alignment with the mission statement of The Salvation Army.
