Job Summary

The Village of Palm Springs, FL is seeking a highly skilled GIS Specialist to join our team. As a GIS Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing geospatial data, creating maps and reports, and providing technical support to various departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement standards for data input, maintenance, and map production.
  • Assist with the development of GIS applications and models that enable data analysis and queries.
  • Create, maintain, and update metadata and geopoints.
  • Update and create GIS maps for various needs.
  • Collect data from a variety of sources.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in the field of GIS.
  • Establish quality control and security maintenance plan for protecting database integrity.
  • Perform GIS analysis functions and create maps and reports to communicate results.
  • Prepare and interpret electronic and hard copy source documents for GIS conversion.
  • Perform quality control of all data, including spatial alignment, attribute checks, topology validation, and other quality control measures to ensure accuracy.
  • Document work, create metadata, and maintain change logs.
  • Provide entry-level training and enterprise support for users.
  • Provide written and oral communication with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other employees, supervisors, Village officials, outside agencies, and the general public.
Requirements
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse employees and the public and ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituents and staff at all levels both orally and in written form.
  • Experience creating reports and generating data-driven collateral.
  • Knowledge of commonly used applications such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Products.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and tact.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, administrators, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a positive team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities in managing a wide range of projects.
