Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a full-time Grower to support various nursery responsibilities. This role involves assisting in the production of high-quality forest seedling crops by applying effective nursery practices. The Grower will have the opportunity to operationally assist, coordinate, and train nursery workers in essential tasks. This dynamic and physically engaging position offers a safe work environment and the chance to contribute positively to environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing irrigation, fertilization, and greenhouse cultural programs as outlined in Crop Prescriptions.
  • Operating environmental control systems for irrigation and climate management.
  • Monitoring seedling growth through morphological assessments and nutrient analyses.
  • Conducting inspections for pests and diseases and applying control measures.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including computerized data management.
  • Inspecting and maintaining monitoring equipment and software.
  • Supervising and training seasonal staff on irrigation practices.
  • Educating nursery workers on safe and efficient operational practices.
  • Adhering to a company-directed Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
  • Providing regular feedback on growing programs to management.
  • Conducting maintenance on irrigation systems and equipment.
  • Assisting with inventory management of crops and materials.
  • Encouraging teamwork and collaboration across all levels.
  • Setting production targets and evaluating performance.
Team Environment:

The Grower will collaborate with other nursery personnel under the guidance of the Production Manager. This position is located in a region known for its stunning natural beauty, offering year-round outdoor activities and breathtaking scenery.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Familiarity with greenhouse equipment and climate control systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Capability to perform basic maintenance on greenhouse and irrigation systems.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pesticide Applicator Certificate.
  • Degree in horticulture or relevant experience in forest seedling nurseries.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
  • Experience with greenhouse monitoring software, preferably Argus.
