Construction Superintendent

Southway Builders, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Construction Superintendent to oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation in the DMV region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing all on-site project activities, ensuring successful project delivery following all safety protocols, with the desired level of quality, on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage project budgets to recoup and/or accelerate the overall project schedule.
  • Develop and manage relationships with city inspectors.
  • Create and manage quality control checklists.
  • Lead safety orientations and inspections, and assist 3rd party safety inspectors.
  • Develop and manage subcontractor meeting minutes in project management databases.
  • Prepare and coordinate 3rd party inspections.
  • Review and annotate submittals, shop drawings, and subcontractor tickets.
  • Manage punch lists and perform quantity takeoffs.
  • Actively update master schedules and participate in team assessments and personnel reviews.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in construction management or engineering, preferred.
  • 3+ years of Construction Superintendent experience.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience working on projects of $15M+.
  • Proficient technical competency in different types/scales/complexities of construction.
  • Proficient in Procore and Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.
  • In-depth understanding of clauses/articles of boiler plate subcontractor agreements, including Attachment A's.
  • In-depth understanding of all building/Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) inspection requirements.
  • Ability to successfully lead an OSHA inspection.
  • Advanced knowledge in the comprehension and construct of blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Ability to independently and successfully complete quality control lists and checks for all trades.
  • Advanced construction knowledge, including means and methods.
  • Able to properly assess the percentage of work complete for clients and lenders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to address conflict in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent proofreading skills.
  • Drive to make proactive decisions.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds for moving equipment on and off shelves.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsites in all types of weather.
  • May require travel beyond a typical one-hour job site commute.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • On-call availability to address issues at the jobsite.
