Sign Language Interpreter for Preschool and High School Students

We are seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to support a female preschool student and a male high school freshman who communicate exclusively through American Sign Language (ASL). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1+ years of interpreting experience and be certified in EIPA or RID. The interpreter will provide in-person interpretation for the students, facilitate communication between students and teachers, and work closely with educators and staff to create an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person interpretation for a female preschool student who communicates solely through ASL.
  • Support a male high school freshman who also uses ASL for communication and may transfer to a Deaf school in the spring.
  • Facilitate communication between students and teachers, ensuring understanding and engagement in the classroom.
  • Work closely with educators and staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or RID certification.
  • Must possess or be eligible for Indiana state certification (quick certification process of 1-2 weeks).
  • Experience interpreting for preschool or high school students is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
