Job Title: Water/Wastewater Project EngineerJob Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our dynamic team at Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson Inc. in Richmond, Virginia. As a key member of our Water/Wastewater consultant engineering practice, you will plan and lead engineering tasks and projects, manage multiple design projects, and develop critical design elements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design responsibilities and project management
  • Business development activities, including proposal writing and project interviews
  • Developing scopes of work, conceptual designs, and preliminary engineering studies
  • Participating in and overseeing construction phase engineering services
  • Coordinating with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and firm staff
Required Skills:
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production office environment
  • Strong team-building skills and experience in a regional-office environment
  • Familiarity with hydraulic calculations, sanitary collection sewer design and rehabilitation, water distribution design, and engineering economics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present technical writing products to internal teams and clients
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint, as well as AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a consulting engineering environment
  • Engineering-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering License preferred in the state of Virginia
  • A working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations
Working Conditions:

85-95% of the work is performed within a general office environment with the remainder of the time in the field. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.
