Research Fellow

We are seeking two highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team as Visiting Research Fellows at the National Corn to Ethanol Research Center (NCERC) at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE).

The Visiting Research Fellowship program is designed to provide recent graduates of a bachelor's or master's program, or a 2-year degree in a STEM field, with hands-on experience and training in research projects. The program is funded through a Foundation Account sponsored by the Illinois Corn Growers Association.

• Gain experience through hands-on assignments at the Pilot Plant in the following categories:
• Process instrumentation & controls installation, programming, and troubleshooting
• Installation of mechanical systems, including metal working, piping systems, and electrical enclosure fabrication
• Contact with equipment providers to source items needed for research trials in the pilot plant
• Operation of bioreactors, ranging in scale from 5 liter to 22,000-liter volume
• Troubleshooting and maintenance of bioreactors and fermentation-related equipment
• Project design, implementation, and project management
• Data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Revising and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Communications with internal, interdisciplinary teams, as well as industry clients, academic collaborators, and external stakeholders

Recent graduates of a bachelor's or master's program, or a 2-year degree in a STEM field

$30,628 for a nine-month appointment
