Position Summary: We are seeking a Lead Project Accountant to join our team. This role is integral to our financial operations and will report directly to a licensed CPA in Arizona. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience towards CPA licensure through a Certificate of Experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with subcontractors and vendors to facilitate smooth financial transactions.
  • Process and enter invoices for timely payments.
  • Reconcile credit card transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of payment applications for client billing.
  • Support both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions.
  • Contribute to the management of Fixed Assets, Leases, and Work In Progress (WIP) schedules as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Software Proficiency: Our team currently utilizes Sage 300 CRE and is transitioning to Oracle Netsuite and Procore. Familiarity with these software systems is advantageous, although training will be provided for candidates with a solid foundation in accounting principles and general software knowledge. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, as many financial applications are developed using complex formulas.

Communication Skills: This role requires frequent interaction with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, necessitating strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Ideal Candidate: The successful candidate will be a proactive problem solver and self-motivated individual, capable of working independently within a small team. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial, as each project presents unique challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle Netsuite, Sage 300 CRE, or Procore Construction Software.
  • CPA License or educational background supporting CPA pursuits.
  • Experience in public accounting, with a preference for audit experience.
