Job Overview:
Inpatient Senior Coders play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely coding of medical records, which is essential for efficient healthcare operations. Conifer Health's Inpatient Senior Coder position offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading healthcare company, utilizing your expertise in coding classification systems and regulations.

About the Role:
This position requires strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding classification systems, as well as experience in abstracting required clinical information from medical records. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. As an Inpatient Senior Coder, you will be responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedural codes, performing quality reviews, and providing consultation on projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coding: Reviews medical records to assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures, adhering to Official Coding Guidelines and Standards of Ethical Coding (AHIMA).
  • Abstracting: Determines required abstracting elements, including discharge disposition, to ensure complete and accurate records.
  • Coding Quality: Maintains consistency in achieving high accuracy rates for principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and abstracting elements.
  • Coder Productivity: Meets or exceeds productivity guidelines, ensuring efficient completion of coding tasks.
  • Physician Queries: Creates compliant physician retrospective coding queries to resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Professional Development: Stays current with AHA Official Coding and Reporting Guidelines, CMS directives, and other relevant coding standards.

Requirements:
To excel in this role, you must possess:
  • 1-3 years of experience in inpatient coding in an acute care setting.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information, Nursing, or related field is preferred.
  • AHIMA RHIT or RHIA or AAPC CCS approved credential is mandatory.

$27.30 - $40.95 per hour, based on location, qualifications, and experience.
