Job Summary:

As a skilled Inpatient Coder, you will be responsible for accurately assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to inpatient charts using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS or any other designated coding classification system. Your expertise will ensure compliance with coding rules and regulations, adhering to the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by AHIMA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coding: Review medical records for accurate code assignment, adhering to Official Coding Guidelines and maintaining consistency in achieving 95.5% coding accuracy.
  • Abstracting: Determine required abstracting elements, including discharge disposition, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Coding Quality: Maintain high standards of coding accuracy and productivity, meeting Conifer's guidelines.
  • Physician Queries: Create compliant queries, demonstrating strong skills in communicating with physicians.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with AHA Official Coding and Reporting Guidelines, CMS directives, and complete mandatory coding education.

Requirements:
  • Experience in inpatient coding in acute care settings, with a strong understanding of MS-DRG and APR DRG classification.
  • AHIMA RHIT or RHIA or AAPC CCS approved credential is required.
  • Ability to lift 15-20lbs, sit for prolonged periods, and travel nationally up to 10%.
