Magnet Medical is currently seeking a skilled Advanced MRI Imaging Specialist for a 13-week travel assignment in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Compensation: The estimated salary for this position ranges from $140,000 to $160,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. A tax-free stipend will also be provided.

About the Role

An Advanced MRI Imaging Specialist operates state-of-the-art MRI machines to create detailed images of the inside of a patient's body, which are used by doctors to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation:
    • Review Patient Information: Review the patient's medical history, doctor's orders, and any previous imaging studies to ensure the appropriate MRI procedure is conducted.
    • Patient Education: Explain the MRI procedure to the patient, addressing any questions or concerns to reduce anxiety.
    • Documentation: Ensure that all necessary documentation, including informed consent forms and patient information, is completed before the procedure.
    • Safety Verification: Verify patient identity and screening criteria to ensure safety, such as checking for implanted devices, allergies to contrast agents, or pregnancy.
  • Conducting MRI Scans:
    • Operate MRI Machine: Operate the MRI machine, adjusting settings (e.g., magnetic field, radiofrequency pulse) to obtain high-quality images as prescribed by the physician.
    • Patient Positioning: Position patients on the MRI table, ensuring they are comfortable and aligned to capture the correct images while adhering to safety standards.
    • Contrast Agent Administration: Administer contrast agents as prescribed by the physician to enhance image clarity, ensuring the patient is monitored for adverse reactions.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
    • Magnetic Field Safety: Ensure patient safety during the MRI procedure, especially concerning the strong magnetic fields, by verifying that no ferrous or metal objects are present on the patient.
    • Patient Reassurance: Keep patients informed during the scan, providing reassurance and instructions as needed to ensure comfort.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Post-Scan Instructions: Provide post-procedure instructions, including the use of any follow-up treatments, care for injection sites (if contrast agents were used), and any other aftercare instructions.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Care:
    • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that the MRI machine is regularly calibrated and functioning correctly, performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team:
    • Communication: Communicate effectively with physicians, radiologists, and other medical staff to ensure the correct images are obtained and the patient's needs are met.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Electronic Health Records: Document all relevant patient information and scan results in the electronic health record (EHR), ensuring that records are complete and accurate.
  • Radiation Safety and Protocols:
    • MRI Safety Guidelines: Follow guidelines for handling contrast agents and equipment that could pose a risk to patients.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Continuing Education: Stay current with the latest MRI technology, scanning techniques, and patient care practices.
