Position Summary:
The Rex Core Laboratory is looking for a full-time Medical Technologist to enhance our team. The Medical Technologist will carry out a range of patient testing and administrative responsibilities that support the clinical operations within the UNC Healthcare System. The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Medical Lab Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, with preferred experience as a generalist. Evening shift differentials are applicable.
Work Schedule: This position will adhere to an evening schedule from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnose issues related to equipment, test outcomes, specimens, and workflow.
- Engage in team projects or special assignments as needed.
- Provide instruction to Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as training for new staff members.
- Conduct quality control and maintain equipment in the designated laboratory.
- Execute routine and specialized testing procedures, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests, while observing reactions and compiling data.
- Prepare specimens and reagents as required.
- Communicate results to healthcare providers and consult with them regarding test outcomes.
- Review test results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of any discrepancies.
Education Requirements:
● A Bachelor of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria upon hire to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of employment.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming eligible for the exam.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● No prior experience is necessary.
