Job Title: Long Range Senior Planner

Job Summary:

LDC Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Long Range Senior Planner to join our team. As a key member of our planning department, you will be responsible for analyzing complex planning issues, developing land use policies, and implementing comprehensive plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze comprehensive planning issues, including interpretation of the Growth Management Act and other relevant regulations.
  • Assist in the drafting of zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan amendments related to land use.
  • Conduct development application review process to determine permit application completeness and conformance with comprehensive plans and applicable policies, regulations, and code.
  • Provide technical assistance and training related to code interpretation and code amendments to department staff and customers as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with state, regional, and local land use regulation changes that may affect municipal codes and comprehensive planning.
  • Quality check draft policies, narratives, and municipal code prepared by other planners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and future clients.
  • Responsible for maintaining project budgets.
  • Provide oversight and direction to planning staff on assigned tasks where appropriate.
  • Participate in hiring process and employee goal setting in coordination with supervisor.
  • Prepare staff reports and present information at public meetings and hearings.
  • Coordinate public meetings/outreach efforts for projects.
  • Research jurisdictional requirements, codes, and policies.
  • Familiarize yourself with jurisdictional forms and applications.
  • Prepare RFP/RFQ responses for planning/engineering projects.
  • Prepare GIS maps.
  • Attend client meetings and conference calls.
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants for needed services.
  • Prepare complex technical reports.
  • Prepare project narratives and response letters for complex applications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, political science, economics, environmental sciences, or similar.
  • 5 or more years of long range planning experience.
  • Strong background in planning, specifically for municipalities in Washington State.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification preferred.
  • Valid Washington driver's license.
