POSITION: ASSET RELIABILITY SPECIALIST (STARLINK)

The primary responsibility of the Asset Reliability Specialist is to identify and mitigate risks associated with asset reliability that could negatively impact manufacturing or operational activities.

As production scales and accelerates, the Asset Reliability Specialist's main objective is to ensure optimal asset and system availability by implementing and executing strategies to reduce production interruptions, unpredictable asset performance, and excessive costs related to system maintenance.

Moreover, the Asset Reliability Specialist serves as the key engineering resource in overseeing the design, construction, and installation phases of new and modified assets, while also providing technical assistance to maintenance management, technicians, and production teams to avert and address operational challenges concerning critical equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with project engineering to guarantee the reliability and sustainability of new and modified installations.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure uniformity and maintainability of essential equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.
  • Own and manage equipment enhancement plans for more agile and developed preventive maintenance strategies, equipment efficiency, and reduction of production downtime.
  • Define, design, develop, monitor, and refine a comprehensive asset maintenance strategy that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks, reduction of high-cost low-value repairs, and effective use of predictive and non-destructive testing methods to identify and isolate inherent reliability issues.
  • Prepare a complete asset documentation package for the evaluation of system mechanical design, controls, and software.
  • Develop engineering solutions to recurring failures and equipment-specific challenges that adversely impact plant operations, including capacity, quality, cost, or compliance with regulations.
  • Work alongside production to conduct analyses of assets, including asset utilization rates, overall equipment effectiveness, remaining useful life, operational constraints, and other metrics that define the operational condition, reliability, and costs of assets.
  • Provide technical support to production, maintenance management, and technical personnel.
  • Manage production requests for asset improvements, control functions, and data collection.
  • Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, systems, or manufacturing engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in an engineering role within manufacturing, integration, reliability, technical program management, and/or operations.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Advanced degrees in engineering with experience in reliability analysis through research and/or internships.
  • 2+ years of experience in a maintenance engineering role and reliability in a high-volume manufacturing, testing, or operational environment.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment control systems, machinery, and industrial automation.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical, fluid, and electrical components.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend equipment schematics and OEM manuals.
  • Experience utilizing probability and statistical tools and methodologies.
  • Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrates a strong sense of urgency.
  • Experience with CMMS programs such as Maximo, SAP, Infor, etc.
  • Certified reliability engineer (CRE) or maintenance & reliability professional (CMRP).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Physical capability to stand, lift, and carry equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

  • Asset Reliability Specialist/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year.
  • Asset Reliability Specialist/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Additionally, you will have access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.

You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.
