Job Summary

Aims Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CDL Field Trainer to join our team. As a CDL Field Trainer, you will be responsible for providing administrative third-party training for Commercial Driver's License Training group, adhering to state regulations set by the State of Colorado, Department of Revenue, Division of Motor Vehicles, CDL, Compliance Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train students in all areas of trucking/driving, ensuring they meet the necessary skills and knowledge requirements.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all state regulations concerning the operation of a CMV, ensuring compliance and adherence to industry standards.
  • Work closely with CDL testers to ensure students are properly assessed and evaluated.
  • Determine the skill level and test-readiness of students, providing personalized feedback and guidance.
Requirements
  • Hold a CDL of the same (or higher) class, and with all endorsements necessary, to operate the CMV for which training is to be provided.
  • Meet all applicable State qualification requirements for CMV instructors.
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience operating a CMV requiring a CDL of the same (or higher) class, or the same endorsement, or have a minimum of two years' experience as a BTW CMV instructor.
  • Valid/non-expired DOT Medical Card/Certification.
  • Demonstrate basic to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, specialized software) to teach classroom and driving simulation portions of the program.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle and/or personal vehicle for business travel, and the selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
  • Ability to pass initial and required random 11-panel drug screens.
  • A pre-employment post-offer physical examination will be required.
  • Ability to stand on pavement (training lot) for extended periods of time in all types of weather.
  • Ability to instruct/train in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to bend and pick up traffic cones.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two-years' experience as a CDL instructor or closely-related field teaching experience.
  • Colorado State-Certified CDL Instructor.
