SUMMARY OF POSITION:

As a key member of the Penn State Health team, you will provide an exceptional experience for patients and healthcare providers. You will serve as the initial point of contact for various patient inquiries, including scheduling, registration, access to services, and appointment confirmations. This role requires you to deliver comprehensive telephone support from early morning to late evening throughout the year, covering multiple inbound call queues that facilitate the operations of the entire healthcare system. Your role will involve utilizing outstanding customer service skills through both phone and electronic communication. You will be responsible for efficiently processing a diverse range of calls by identifying the caller's needs, assisting them, or directing them to the appropriate department for further assistance. It is essential to ensure that all calls are handled accurately and promptly while maintaining departmental efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a hands-on training program covering all necessary phone applications and software used in daily operations is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Proficient knowledge of departmental processes, procedures, and software applications supporting daily operations.
  • Exceptional service excellence in all interactions with patients, partners, and team members.
  • Strong customer service, communication, problem-solving, and computer skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making abilities, and resilience.
  • Critical thinking skills and sound judgment under pressure.
  • High professional and ethical standards.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of policies and procedures related to scheduling, referrals, and location information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in word processing, scheduling, call center operations, or familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume call center environment is preferred.
