Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and handle surgical instruments and equipment
  • Adhere to established protocols and procedures
  • Collaborate with surgeons and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care and safety
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions to maintain and improve skills
  • Contribute to team discussions and uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct

Requirements:

  • BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of surgical technician experience preferred
  • NBSTA CST certification preferred
  • Proficiency in maintaining and establishing a sterile field during surgical procedures
  • Ability to set up and organize surgical trays and equipment according to standard setup
  • Skills in the correct handling, preparation, and passing of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and the proper use and care of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Ability to recognize and respond promptly to any breaches in sterility or potential complications during surgery
  • Skills in effectively collaborating with surgical team members to ensure optimal patient care and safety
