Travel Nurse RN Position in Rapid City, South Dakota

About the Position:
Travel Nurse Source is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Rapid City, South Dakota. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide care for adults with a variety of diagnoses, including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremors.
- Work in a unit with 56 beds, managing a patient ratio of 1:4 in PCU/Tele and 1:5 in Med/Surg.
- Ensure effective verbal and written communication, conduct thorough physical assessments, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, and maintain a professional bedside manner.
- Display a strong team player mindset with a positive attitude and adaptability.
- Collaborate in a team nursing model, often paired with an LPN, sharing and swapping tasks as needed based on scope and ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
- Be comfortable with floating to other adult inpatient units such as Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, ICU (depending on experience), and Observation.
- Utilize Epic charting systems and equipment, with experience preferred.
- Engage in 2 days of classroom/online orientation followed by two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor.
- Participate in a weekend rotation every other weekend as part of a 4-week schedule, with weekends including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Meet audit compliance for Pre/Post Pain Scoring with a target of 90% compliance.
Additional Information:
- CNA staff ratio is 1:8 both days and nights.
- Support on the unit includes charge nurses, phlebotomy, resource nurses, and respiratory therapists all available 24/7.
- Hospitalists provide in-house coverage, facilitating efficient patient management and care.
- Use of a paging system and secure chat for provider communication.
- Centralized telemonitoring assists with telemetry reading and alarm notifications.
- Holidays are assigned on an every-other basis during the contract timeframe.
- Up to 7 days off can be approved. Expectation to extend the contract if unable to work a full week due to time off.
