Job Summary

UNC Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our team in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologist to perform a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of our clinical activities.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
  • Participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
  • Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees.
  • Perform quality control and equipment maintenance in the laboratory.
  • Conduct routine and less standardized test procedures, including special chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests.
  • Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
  • Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
  • Review test results to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction of errors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree.
  • Eligibility to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.
  • Obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
  • No prior experience required.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek. The work schedule is evening shifts, with rotating weekends and holidays.
