Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopedic Coding Specialist to join our team at USOP, LLC.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and electronic health records.

  • Minimum qualifications include:
  • Fluent in medical terminology and experience in reading and understanding orthopedic medical records
  • Excellent coding skills, adhering to specificity guidelines for ICD10
  • Efficient computer skills and experience using multiple systems for coding
  • Understanding and adherence to HIPAA guidelines
  • Outstanding written and communication skills

Essential Functions

The Orthopedic Coding Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Possessing and maintaining a coding knowledge base without the need for upfront training
  • Reviewing medical documentation from providers and assigning appropriate codes according to regulatory practice and payer guidelines
  • Maintaining coding rules, notes, or documentation effectively to perform quality, timely coding
  • Ability to work remotely, independently, and efficiently
  • Maintaining productivity and quality standards
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and collaborate with team members to promote company success

Experience/Educational Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • One medical coding certification from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
  • Two (2) years of medical coding experience in a medical practice related to the described duties

The role is based in the Alpharetta, GA, office, which follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or deadlines, as determined by the manager.
