**Job Summary**

As a Correctional Officer with GeorgiaGov, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our correctional facilities. This position requires a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Enforce all institutional policies, rules, and regulations to maintain order and discipline within the facility.
  • Conduct regular security checks and patrols to prevent disturbances and escapes.
  • Escort offenders in transit and during temporary leaves, ensuring their safe transportation and supervision.
  • Guard facility entrances to screen visitors and maintain the integrity of the facility.
  • Train and handle canines for tracking, search and rescue, guard duty, and detection of contraband.
  • Inspect, inventory, and maintain physical control of keys, tools, weapons, and related equipment.
  • Prepare and submit reports on offender behavior, incidents, and other relevant information.
  • Respond to emergencies and take offenders into custody as needed.

**Requirements:**

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Any combination of training and experience that enables the applicant to meet the minimum standards of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.).
