Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate

Job Summary:

The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate will provide support and advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse, ensuring their safety and well-being. This role requires a strong understanding of domestic abuse dynamics and the ability to provide confidential and non-judgmental support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 24/7 response to victims of domestic abuse, offering support and guidance.
• Establish and maintain safety plans for victims, working closely with treatment managers and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Family Advocacy Treatment Manager and Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist to promote victim safety and well-being.
• Develop and maintain contact files for each victim, ensuring continuity of care.
• Provide information and referrals to victims, including emergency shelter, housing, childcare, legal services, and clinical resources.
• Offer follow-up support to victims, empowering them to advocate for their needs and make informed decisions.
• Participate in the development and implementation of installation DA policies and protocols.
• Support the Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist in promoting education about and prevention of domestic abuse.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as social work, psychology, or counseling.
• Minimum two years of experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to clearly read, understand, speak, and write English.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Advocate credential with designation of Comprehensive Intervention Specialist.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support certification.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit and talk or hear for extended periods.
• Ability to use repeated motions with arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Occasional need to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasional need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
