Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer I to join our team at Frederick Health. As a Security Officer I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, and monitoring of alarms and surveillance cameras.
  • Provide escorts for staff, visitors, and patients as requested.
  • Apprehend criminal violators when necessary and appropriate.
  • Provide emergency response to a variety of situations.
  • Apply patient restraints as needed.
  • Patrool assigned areas, both buildings and grounds, giving attention to those areas where security problems have occurred.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages to Hospital property, patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential criminal misconduct by questioning individuals involved with specific incidents. Keep supervisor informed at all times.
  • Prepare and submit written reports and daily events in a complete, timely, and accurate manner. Log all responses and incidents.
  • Maintain accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence, ensure safekeeping, and maintain documentation.
  • Perform fire drills as required.
  • Assist in morgue releases. Ensure medical record checklist for expired patients.
  • Provide support to tissue recovery team.
  • Monitor CCTV and Access Control system.
  • Ready and secure helicopter landing area. Escort medical personnel to patient location. Provide support for patient transports.
  • Participate in assistance with workplace violence victims; respond to medical emergencies; control pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
  • Act as a first responder to HazMat incidents.
  • Create safety awareness among patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Actively take part in any Safety and Security quality improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot parking gates machines when necessary to ensure proper operation of all parking equipment.
  • Maintain all hospital-issued uniforms and equipment.
  • Conduct a wide range of customer services.
  • Manage visitors entry into the hospital. Maintain proper and safe visitation.
  • May have to work other shifts as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma required.
  • A strong educational background (Associates or Bachelors degree) in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
  • No experience required, but 1-3 years of security or related experience preferred.
Qualifications

  • Exhibits him/herself as a consistent performer in all areas of job responsibilities.

  • Technology: use of access control and database software, communications equipment, and first aid equipment. Able to assist in trouble shooting systems as necessary.
