Job Summary:

As a Diesel Mechanic Technician at First Piedmont Corp, you will be responsible for maintaining diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements. Your duties will include determining vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, keeping equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, and correcting vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition
  • Complete preventive maintenance schedules to keep equipment available for use
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
  • Contain costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options, and keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical and regulation publications, and enhancing maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Requirements:
  • 1 year of experience in diesel engine repair
  • 1 year of mechanical knowledge
  • Class A or B CDL (optional)
  • State Inspection License (optional)
