Job Title: Special Education ECSE Para

At Magnolia ISD, we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education ECSE Para to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing support to PreK and PPCD classrooms.

Job Summary:

The Special Education ECSE Para will work under the supervision of a certified teacher to provide support to students with disabilities in a general education and/or special education setting. This includes documenting student behavior, monitoring student progress, and assisting with physical and instructional needs.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  2. Help maintain administrative records and prepare required reports.
  3. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  4. Implement behavior plans, goals, and objectives designed by the IEP team for students with disabilities.
  5. Model conversation, manners, and interactions for students to demonstrate appropriate social behavior.
  6. Monitor students during assigned periods to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  7. Assist students with physical needs and personal care.
  8. Help manage student behavior, including intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous behavior as needed.
  9. Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
  10. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
  11. Report problems directly to the supervising teacher/administrator for the purpose of maintaining personal safety and adhering to Education Code and administrative policies.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain certificate within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to work with children with disabilities
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of general office equipment
  • Some experience working with children
Working Conditions:

The Special Education ECSE Para will work in a general education and/or special education setting, with frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Regular heavy lifting of students may be required. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases is possible. Participation in Crisis Intervention Strategies with students in a crisis situation may be necessary. The ability to lift at least 40 pounds is required.
