Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and reporting results.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all routine and complicated laboratory procedures in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment, making minor repairs as necessary.
  • Cross-train to other laboratory sections as needed to ensure effective workflow and productivity.
  • Assure that the laboratory's quality control program is properly followed, ensuring accurate and reliable test results.
  • Calculate, enter, and/or verify results of laboratory procedures, utilizing the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to manage data and reports.
  • Process patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution, adhering to strict guidelines for pediatric specimen volumes when required.
  • Participate in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols, demonstrating competence in assigned patient care responsibilities.
  • Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs of patients served by the department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation requirements.
  • No experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS or other organizations approved by HHS.
  • One year of approved clinical laboratory experience, which must include a clinical rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids sections in the U.S. or with an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.
  • Must possess Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS, with certification maintained and kept current if expiration date applies.

Salary Range:$65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
