POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Production Planning Specialist plays a crucial role in leveraging QAD and Preactor to establish and uphold a constrained Master Production Plan (MPP). This position is tasked with managing the planning horizon for all designated Finished Goods and Work In Progress production needs. The Specialist will coordinate and communicate the MPP with key departments such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Facilities, ensuring alignment with all stakeholders. This role is integral to the Order Fulfilment Process, addressing issues as they arise and communicating potential impacts to relevant business partners. The Senior Production Planning Specialist is expected to provide value through innovative planning strategies that enhance business outcomes. Collaboration with stakeholders to support the monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process is essential. Additionally, the Specialist will work closely with Sharp External Supply to guarantee a consistent supply of packaging components while optimizing the use of available capacity and labor resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's product offerings and operational processes to ensure stability in the Master Production Plan (MPP), including order creation, rescheduling, and load-leveling. Formulate a capacity-constrained daily Master Production Plan (MPP) that meets customer demand while maximizing resource utilization in accordance with company policies, facilitating detailed material and capacity planning. Conduct rough cut capacity planning and MPP evaluations concerning labor resources, shifts, equipment, and downtime. Engage in the Integrated Business Plan (IBP) process as necessary. Review and optimize the MPP, resolving issues and running scenarios as required. Communicate the constrained MPP to the Detailed Scheduler, managing the transition from planning horizon to firm commitments. Process order confirmations by providing Available To Ship (ATS) dates for customer orders within a five-day timeframe, including reconfirmation orders as needed. Collaborate with Data Control to recommend scheduling parameters, ensuring that master data is accurate and current (e.g., part numbers, bills of materials, vendor information). Assist in identifying and resolving conflicts related to manufacturing, materials, and capacity availability, managing the communication of changes while maintaining order integrity. Participate in cross-functional meetings and discussions as required. Provide insights into Supply Planning for the S&OP process, ensuring transparency regarding risks and opportunities. Execute planning initiatives to support new product launches and phase-in/phase-out events, contributing feedback during Onboarding Meetings. Monitor Supply Chain Key Performance Indicators and data to support process enhancements and informed decision-making. Perform additional Supply Chain planning and analysis tasks as necessary.SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain or a related field, along with 5-7 years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience and/or education may be considered. Supply Chain Certification (APICS CPIM, CSCP, or similar) is preferred. Proficiency in ERP and Advanced Planning Systems is essential. Experience in planning or manufacturing within pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or Contract Manufacturing or Packaging is required. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset are necessary for effective interaction with various functional areas. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Ability to work on-site five days a week. Fluency in English is required.PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or Contract Manufacturing or Packaging is advantageous. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and interpret large data sets into actionable business insights. Capacity to influence stakeholders in a matrix environment, fostering strong collaborative relationships and considering diverse perspectives. Ability to make informed recommendations based on data and business insights. Skilled in tailoring communications for various audiences and delivering presentations to small to medium-sized groups. Proficient in anticipating risks and navigating ambiguity, utilizing multiple scenarios to identify cost/benefit trade-offs. Ability to challenge existing processes and evaluate opportunities for improvement in speed, productivity, and quality. Strong interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence. Awareness of relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as they pertain to this role.
