Phoenix, Arizona, United States Phoenix Children's Full time

The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant at Phoenix Children's is seeking a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible pediatric hematologist/oncologist to serve as an attending physician within the Neuro-Oncology Section.

Position Overview and Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will engage in clinical practice, educational roles, and contribute to clinical or clinical-translational research initiatives. This role requires active collaboration within our division and the Neuro-Oncology section.

While the primary focus is on central nervous system (CNS) tumors, our team also manages cases involving liquid tumors and occasionally benign hematological disorders in inpatient care.

Our physicians play a crucial role in supervising pediatric residents and fellows in both inpatient and outpatient environments, and they are actively involved in the clinical education of medical students and other trainees.

Our staff is engaged in both clinical and laboratory research, as well as educational endeavors. Academic affiliations are established with the University of Arizona-College of Medicine Phoenix, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Creighton University.

About Our Center and Neuro-Oncology Section:

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Phoenix Children's Hospital is a prominent referral institution for pediatric oncology in the Southwest, managing an average of 370 new oncology cases annually.

We maintain robust clinical and laboratory research programs focusing on oncology, neuro-oncology, survivorship, hemophilia, and investigational drug development in early-phase trials.

CCBD is a participating member of COG, POETIC, TACL, Histiocyte Society, and NACHO, providing access to consortium trials, phase I and II industry-sponsored studies, and investigator-initiated research.

Our ACGME-accredited fellowship program in pediatric hematology/oncology accommodates 3 fellows per year, alongside a one-year specialized fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplant.
The Neuro-Oncology Section evaluates approximately 90 new patients each year. Our physicians collaborate closely with neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists to ensure comprehensive care.

Our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department offers multidisciplinary support for patients experiencing complications related to brain tumors.

We are equipped with a dedicated pediatric neuropathologist skilled in molecular techniques. Collaborative research efforts are ongoing with investigators from the University of Arizona and TGen. We conduct a weekly multidisciplinary tumor board dedicated to the management of pediatric patients with newly diagnosed and relapsed CNS tumors.

CCBD is recognized as a Center of Excellence at Phoenix Children's Hospital, featuring two satellite locations, 24 attending physicians, 9 fellows, 14 advanced practice providers, and a dedicated support team including social workers, nutritionists, child life specialists, psychologists, mental health therapists, clinical research associates, and research nurses.

Phoenix Children's Hospital is among the largest independent pediatric hospitals in the nation, boasting 457 licensed beds.

We serve as a comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care center and a primary teaching facility for medical students from the University of Arizona, Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, and Creighton University.

Phoenix Children's is committed to equal opportunity employment, offering competitive compensation and benefits in an environment that fosters individual and professional development.
