Position Overview:

The AV Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in providing presales assistance by serving as a technical advisor for client projects. This includes the creation of functional system descriptions, schematic diagrams, and equipment inventories to facilitate the development of client proposals. Additionally, the Onsite Design Engineer collaborates with the post-sales team for project engineering and ongoing consultation, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:


• Transform client specifications into functional system designs.


• Evaluate pre-construction designs and documentation.


• Assist in technical design and effort estimation by assessing hours and identifying logistical challenges for the sales team.


• Create functional system descriptions and schematic diagrams.


• Determine all cabling and miscellaneous material requirements.


• Design wall plates and overlays.


• Support Account Managers with labor and material project estimates.


• Take ownership of project installations when necessary.


• Develop engineering and architectural drawings, calculations, acoustical modeling, or other required data.


• Provide ongoing engineering support as needed.


• Assist with project sign-off processes.


• Meet with vendors or potential vendors to evaluate products as requested.


• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications:


• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal staff, clients, and colleagues.


• Demonstrated proficiency in business writing.


• Skilled in the use of testing and calibration equipment.


• Support user acceptance testing processes.


• Ability to program, modify, and troubleshoot systems (AMX/Crestron).


• Capable of diagnosing complex system issues.


• Advanced computer skills necessary for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment.


• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.


• Strong communication and interaction skills with employees, clients, and colleagues.
