Job Title: Applications Engineer

Centrotherm-cs/Clean Tech, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Applications Engineer to join our team. As an Applications Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical support and expertise in vacuum pump applications for the US entity of Pfeiffer Vacuum.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with both the Pfeiffer Vacuum/Busch Vacuum Sales & Support team and Centrotherm Applications & Technology teams to ensure effective integration of Pfeiffer Vacuum products in semiconductor processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their semiconductor processes and requirements, providing tailored vacuum pump solutions and specifications.
  • Provide technical expertise in integrating Pfeiffer Vacuum products into diverse semiconductor manufacturing environments.
  • Specify and validate pump recommendations for semiconductor customers, ensuring alignment with industry standards and Pfeiffer Vacuum Application BKMs.
  • Conduct technical sales presentations to showcase Pfeiffer Vacuum, Busch & Centrotherm Clean Solutions applications in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with technology, engineering, manufacturing, and sales department to assist in the continuous improvement of legacy products (CIP) and/or design and development of new products necessary to make target accounts successful.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Pfeiffer Vacuum Semi Application team to prepare and review equipment engineering documents (SEED, etc.).
  • Provide input and actively participate in pump troubleshooting/expertise and resolving quality / process issues with pumps installed at target customer sites; actively participate in writing failure analysis reports and 8D reports to customer.
  • Perform vacuum calculations and develop system fingerprints during the specification process.
  • Review and approve customer-specific chemistry change requests.
  • Participate actively in strategic demo pump install and follow-up.
  • Participate actively in installed base follow-up and optimization.
Requirements
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in data analysis and presentation building for customer engagement.
  • Intensive knowledge of vacuum technology, chemistry & processes used in semiconductor industry.
  • Excellent autonomous problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience in semiconductor applications or related field.
  • Proficient in plotting data and building presentations for technical sales purposes.
Working Conditions
  • Office-based role with heavy computer usage, located in Hillsboro, Oregon.
  • Occasional travel to regional customer sites and external conferences, estimated up to 10% of the time.
