Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Join our team at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist, where you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing respiratory care to patients of all ages, including pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations. You will work in accordance with evidence-based policies and procedures, demonstrating knowledge and skills to provide respiratory therapy.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medical gases, medications, airway clearance, mechanical ventilation, and other respiratory modalities.
  • Monitor levels of supplies and equipment for department and patient care areas.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge to care for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients, demonstrating competence in respiratory skills, problem solving, and critical thinking.
  • Perform respiratory skills within the scope of the Respiratory Therapy Practice Act, providing care per order by licensed healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver respiratory care activities to patients admitted to general floors, intermediate units, ICU, and emergency department.
  • Perform life-sustaining interventions during emergent situations, including serving as the primary airway manager during Blue Alerts.
  • Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation, including advanced modes, independently assessing and responding to therapy effectiveness.
  • Administer specialty medical gases and provide documentation of interventions in accordance with regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Participate in rounds with the interdisciplinary team in ICUs and intermediate units.
Requirements:
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, reach, grab with arms and hands, and utilize manual dexterity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and check documents for accuracy.
  • Ability to push/pull respiratory equipment and other items, exerting necessary force to sustain movement.
Additional Information:
  • Call off policy allows for the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty.
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are welcome.
