Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Duke Women's Health Raleigh. The ideal candidate will have experience in obstetrics and gynecology and be able to work collaboratively with attending physicians and other healthcare professionals. The APP will provide direct patient care, perform consultations, collect and document data, assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and order and schedule laboratory studies. The primary hours will be Monday through Friday, with flexibility to meet the needs of patients.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Obstetric and Postpartum Care

The APP will provide obstetric care to prenatal patients from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy and including the postpartum visit. This will include performance of the new obstetric exam, initiation of a plan of care, diagnostic testing, interpretation of labs, treatment plan, patient education, and performance of FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment, and triage patients.

Gynecological Care

The APP will be responsible for management of gynecological patients for routine care and/or treatment of common gynecological problems, including all methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning, routine Well Woman Exams and Pap Smears, screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, treatment for symptoms of menopause/perimenopause, postmenopausal bleeding, breast changes or masses, pelvic/abdominal pain, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and routine postoperative follow-up and problem visits.

Miscellaneous

The APP will analyze clinical practice patterns to provide the best medical care and increase effectiveness and efficiency, communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, clinic staff, and other relevant healthcare providers, provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data, and explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to the patient and/or their family.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Certification: BLS required. License: Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina for Nurse Practitioners, and licensure in the state of NC and certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants for Physician Assistants. Experience: Prefer 2+ years of APP work experience in Women's Health.

Job Hours

Clinical and administrative sessions are generally 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, with hours flexible to meet the needs of patients. There is a possibility of weekend hours in the future, with extended and alternative hours expected upon request/scheduling needs.
