Community Animal Welfare Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Control Officer to join our team at Lexington Humane Society. As an Animal Control Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the welfare and safety of animals in our community.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce animal-related laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with local ordinances and state laws.
- Respond to calls for service, providing assistance to citizens with animal-related concerns and educating them on responsible pet ownership.
- Patrol the community, identifying and addressing animal welfare issues, and providing support to vulnerable populations.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, veterinarians, and other stakeholders to promote animal welfare and public safety.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community members, providing education and resources on animal care and welfare.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in animal control, law enforcement, and community engagement.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to lift, carry, and restrain animals, as needed.
- Pass a background check and motor vehicle record check.
