Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including blood bank, coagulation, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis.
- Follow established laboratory and hospital policies and procedures related to testing, specimen collections, quality control, result verifications, reporting procedures, infection control, maintenance, lab and public safety.
- Document and report test results in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed, maintenance on instruments and equipment, and calibrate equipment as required.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth laboratory operations and meet deadlines for test results and preventative maintenance.
- Comply with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
- Certification as an MLT by the ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
- 2 years of related laboratory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, handle stress, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Light lifting, pushing, and pulling required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, walking, standing, squatting, bending, and reaching.
- Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
