Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Material Research Scientist to contribute to our pioneering research initiatives. The ideal candidate will spearhead the creation and implementation of sophisticated physics-based models aimed at understanding, forecasting, and enhancing the behavior and performance of advanced composite materials. This role necessitates close collaboration with material scientists, engineers, data analysts, and AI/ML specialists to foster innovation in composite materials tailored for aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the technical strategy in collaboration with government entities and mentor junior and mid-level personnel.
  • Develop and validate advanced physics-based models for assessing the behavior and performance of composite materials.
  • Utilize computational tools to simulate the mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties of composite materials.
  • Employ multi-scale modeling techniques to connect microstructural characteristics with macroscopic behaviors.
  • Work alongside experimental researchers to align modeling predictions with empirical data.
  • Analyze and interpret simulation outcomes to inform the development and refinement of composite materials.
  • Leverage finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and other simulation methodologies to investigate composite materials.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate research findings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on computational modeling and simulation, accompanied by 8 years of relevant experience, or 6 years with a Master's degree, or 3 years with a PhD.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret security clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects and teams.
  • Over 5 years of experience in physics-based modeling of composite materials.
  • Proficiency in computational modeling software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, COMSOL, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience with multiscale modeling and the integration of various simulation techniques.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is between $130,000 and $220,000, reflecting the typical salary based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
